After quitting college to play rock-n-roll, Mike Fowler and I started the "Voodoo Gypsies," a band that never actually played anywhere, but rehearsed a lot! Actually, we used to practice from Friday night ‘til Sunday morning (we took breaks!) when we’d go to the grocery store together for supplies, then head to dad's cabin for a big breakfast with him. We always ended up messing around and jamming on acoustic guitars, and pretty soon Doug had quit the band and the rest of us had formed a folk band with my dad! (But not as the "Voodoo Gypsies." Dad just couldn’t go there...) Left-to-right, back: Mike Fowler (guitar) Doug Gillen (bass) Colette White (drums and a bit of fiddle and guitar) Front: me, with my hairy head down, and the mandolin. |
